The Ghana Health Service(GHS) has instituted an inquiry into the alleged theft and sale of covid-19 vaccines, by some health personnel, working in some government hospitals in the Greater Accra Region.
At a media briefing in Accra, the Director-General, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, said the vaccines, being used for the ongoing national vaccination programme against COVID-19, are under emergency authorization, and not for private use.
He urged the public to report unscrupulous persons, who administer the jab at a fee.
Three persons are currently in the custody of the police for their alleged involvement in the stealing of the COVISHIELD vaccines and administering them at a cost of GHS 200.00 per jab.
