The Functional Executive Committee (FEC), of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has suspended a member of the party’s communication team, Stephen Atubiga.

The decision comes less than 24 hours after the party fired its Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs.

A letter signed by the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said the suspension follows some publications made by the communicator on the 8th, 12th and 14th of this month.

According to the statement, although Mr. Atubiga had made earlier promises to refrain from denting the image of the party during a meeting with the national executives on February 24, 2021, he breached the promise contrary to Article 47 (1) (a,b) of the Party’s constitution.

Mr. Atubiga is also accused of failing to apologise to a 2020 Flagbearer Aspirant, Joshua Alabi as directed by the party.

The statement said the decision by FEC has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further action.

The NDC General Secretary said the move by the Party Leadership is to quell indiscipline.

The outspoken communicator, who did not seem surprised by his suspension, took to Facebook to confirm the news.

In his post, Stephen Atubiga said the NDC stands for probity and accountability, and therefore members of the party have a right to demand that from elected leaders.
