Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor has tasked management of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine to heed strictly to the local content policy which is of prime importance to government.
He said the intention of Government is to make mining a tool to propel the development of the country.
Mr Jinapor said this when he began a two day working visit to AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine and some mining communities in the Ashanti Region.
The Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti, Eric Asubonteng said the Company is undertaking a re-development plan of its Obuasi Mine.
Currently, AngloGold Ashanti has over three thousand workers.
He revealed that management is working to ensure that the Mine begins to produce 4,000 tons of gold per day, disclosing that currently, the Mine’s output is about 2,000 tons of gold per day.
