The Christian Council of Ghana has reminded Churches to abide by the COVID-19 safety protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus during the 2021 Easter celebrations.

In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Most Rev. Dr. Kwabena Boafo, the Christian Council reminded Churches that COVID-19 is still around, therefore the Easter should be celebrated modestly to avoid a spike in cases after the Easter festivities.

It commended the leadership of churches for ensuring strict adherence to all the protocols.

The statement further asked them to continue to lead their congregants in ensuring all the preventive measures are observed.

The Council cautioned churches to adhere strictly to all COVID-19 preventive measures, such as social distancing, use of nose masks, hand washing under running water with soap, and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers among others.

The Christian Council urged churches to shun mass gatherings usually associated with the season such as church conventions, picnics, and other forms of celebrations.
