Roads Minister, Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Attah says a major concern for the government is overpricing of projects or construction estimates in the roads sector.

The Roads Minister made this known at the maiden meeting between himself and the Consulting Engineers Association of Ghana.

Citing a lack of the necessary due diligence and deliberate overpricing, Mr. Amoako Attah, said culprits will be brought to book.

The second term of the NPP government has been termed as the second year of roads.

He said the sector is expected to prioritize road construction in 2021 to ensure that a significant number of kilometers across the country are tarred. With the successes chalked up in the roads sector between 2017 and 2020, the administration resolves to do more.

The minister said this must involve all stakeholders, known as the tripod; that is the employer who is the government, engineering consultants, and the contractors.

Mr. Amoako Attah said the Auditor-General must randomly audit projects in the sector. He said inflated projects will be dealt with and culprits prosecuted.

He commended local engineers working on the Pokuase interchange for their due diligence in ensuring value for money.
