The Ghana Institution of Surveyors is appealing to the Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye to support the consideration and promulgation of the Surveying Council Bill this year.
It says the Bill has suffered a chequered history and is anxious to see its passage into law.
Leadership of the Ghana Institution of surveyors interacted with the Minister in Accra.
This was an opportunity for membership of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors to hear the new Minister’s vision among other mutual issues towards achieving the Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda.
At the meeting, the President of the Institution, Dr. John Amaglo and his team discussed issues including the Ministers support in ensuring the early consideration of the Surveying Council Bill which will soon be submitted to cabinet, representation on boards, Commissions and committees and outstanding payment for services provided to government institutions.
Dr. John Amaglo said the Institution is vital in the building environment, making their membership on specific boards, committees and commissions a must.
Dr. John Amaglo commended the President for assenting to the Real Estate Agency Act which the Institution has sponsored for the past twenty years. He appealed for the payment of outstanding monies owed members for its audit on the Saglemi Housing project.
The Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Francis Asenso -Boakye said the Ghana Institution of surveyors plays an invaluable role. He says the government and for that matter, his Ministry recognizes their functions in the development mix, and will ensure they receive the necessary support to function properly.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye commended the Institution for their audit work on the Saglemi Housing project and others.
The Minister for Works and Housing and the team from the Ghana Institution of surveyors have pledged to step up relations to improve on gains made in the sector.
