Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah has again called on government to increase wages of workers across the country.

This, he said, is the only way to cushion them against the hardships brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at this year’s May Day celebration at the forecourt of the TUC in Accra, Dr. Yaw Baah said the TUC intends to deepen social partnership and work to aid government to get the economy back on track.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Employers Association is calling for sustained dialogue in the negotiations for the new minimum wage and base pay for workers.

President of the Association, Daniel Acheampong said this is the only way workers will feel appreciated.

Some workers attending the May Day celebrations at the forecourt of the TUC in Accra have expressed disappointment in the Secretary General of TUC for not properly articulating works problems to the President.

Speaking to GBC NEWS after the celebration, some of the workers said their living conditions were not represented well and this made them very sad.
