Residents of Damoltindongo a community in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region now have a borehole.
The request for a borehole has been on the wish list of residents for years and through the Social Transformation wing of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, the town has been provided with a borehole to give them all year round potable drinking water.
Damoltindongo is a farming community in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region. It has a population of over two thousand people. The community lacks basic social amenities including potable water and good road networks.
Damoltindongo lies in a rocky and hilly area making access to potable water very difficult. Residents walk about 350 meters daily in search of water. Due to the situation students always report late to classes and this school authorities say is affecting teaching and learning.
Touched by the plight of the people, the Social Transformation wing of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries whose leader Rev. Eastwood Anaba hails from the area has constructed a borehole for the community.
Speaking at a short ceremony to officially hand over the borehole to the community, the Director of Social Transformation Wing of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Miss Ruth Wallace, said the construction of the borehole is in line with the churches efforts at supporting deprived communities with basic amenities
A resident of Damoltindongo, Madam Mama Ateni, thanked the Eastwood Anaba Ministries for the love shown them. She said the provision of a borehole for the community is a relief. The residents explained that until the construction of the borehole, students attend school late due to the difficulty in accessing water in the area.
Speaking at a short ceremony to officially hand over the borehole to the community, the Director of Social Transformation, Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Madam Ruth Wallace, said the Eastwood Anaba Ministries was looking at an intervention that is lasting, thus the construction of the borehole.
A resident of Damoltindongo, Madam Mama Ateni, explained that until the construction of the borehole, students attend school late due to the difficulty in accessing water in the area.
For the residents of Damoltindongo, the constructed borehole has come as a huge relief following the struggles they previously endured in a bid to get water.
