The Minority in parliament has described the announcement by government to construct 20 interchanges in four years as a joke.

Roads and highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta last Sunday told the media that 25 interchanges have been earmarked for construction across the country to ease the traffic situation, out of which 20 will be completed before the end of President Akufo-Addo’s term.

Speaking to the media in parliament, however, ranking member on Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament, Governs Kwame Agbodza argued that funds available to government do not match the plan.

He noted that the 6,000 kilometre of roads promised is inadequate especially given the failure of the Sino hydro project.

The Adaklu MP served notice that the minority will oppose any attempt to increase road tolls unless government reverses its capping policy on the road fund.
