A Stakeholder’s engagement on School Licensing Requirement has been held in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region.
It was organized by the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), for Heads of schools and school proprietors.
The stakeholders’ engagement forms part of a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of activities of NaSIA and its core mandates and services to the heads of schools and the general public. Pursuant to the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1020).
The National Schools Inspectorate Authority is to develop, publish, promote and enforce highest quality standards and guidelines for quality education in public and private pre-tertiary Educational Institutions.
The Authority is also responsible for registering and licensing all public and private schools in Ghana.
The Eastern Regional Minister in a speech read on his behalf by the New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Gyasi Appau, indicated that, government is laying a strong foundation for an educated and skilled workforce for the future, adding that the introduction of the free SHS enabled over 90 thousand additional young Ghanaians in its first year of implementation to enroll in SHS.
He entreated NaSIA to raise awareness of their existence, mandate, and core services as they embark on the nationwide campaign to all heads of schools and the general public.
The Executive Director and Inspector General of Schools, Dr. Hagar Hilda Ampadu in her remarks said her outfit has now taken over the inspection of schools which was initially carried out by the Ghana Education Service.
She said her outfit will undertake visits to schools unannounced and therefore asked school heads to always ensure that they abide by the rules and regulations of the NaSIA to avoid falling foul of the law.
The Inspection Operations Manager, Nana Amaka in an interview with the media said the Authority is mandated to provide guidelines, publish, promote and enforce standards.
He stressed the need for the highest quality standards in both the private and public pre-tertiary schools in Ghana.
