The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is to demolish an uncompleted three storey building at Duase, in the Manhyia Sub metro as a result of structural defects and integrity.

The owner of the building has  been served with several warning notice to stop building, produce building permit and to ensure effective supervision by engineers at the KMA before going ahead but refused.

The demolition will cost 15,000 Ghana cedis but the owner will be surcharged and other punishment meted out after a court order.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Works Engineer, David Ameyaw, who disclosed this at a news briefing said, several warnings to stop the owner from further construction was not heeded to, and warned that future developers will suffer same fate.

A visit to the building site showed that part of the structure was with defects  with other parts caving in. The owner of the building was however not present at the site.
