The Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat, (GNECS) is stepping up its drive to educate the public on the unique properties of eggs and share messages that will break the myth surrounding cholesterol associated with eggs and boost Ghana’s poultry sector.

For the next few weeks, the Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat will visit selected schools to encourage students to eat eggs daily as part of a healthy regimen.

Ghana’s consumption of eggs has risen from an estimated 12 eggs per capita in 1995 to 128 eggs per capita in 2018. Thus, according to the Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers the country’s production of 1.5million eggs daily is sufficient to meet demand.

Many are however oblivious of the benefits one derives from the consumption of eggs. The Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat’s task is to increase awareness on the benefits of egg consumption.

The campaign van of the Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat made a brief stopover at Sow Din Memorial School.

The campaign coordinator, Madam Comfort Kyerewa Acheampong, said the objective is to promote healthy nutrition while reducing production losses.

The team will be visiting some selected schools in the Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions in the next few weeks.
