Government has received 650,000 dollars in a grant from the Korea International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, for the purchase of vaccines.

The grant comes from KOICA’s CHPS Project budget tailored to respond to emerging health situations in Ghana.

It comes as the country is expecting some vaccines from the UK and US between next month and August.

At the signing and presentation of the grant in Accra, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu said the grant is timely as it will help Government achieve its vaccination goals.

The Country Director of KOICA, Mooheon Kong noted that the Agency has supported Government with various health interventions in relation to maternal healthcare.

According to him, KOICA’s CHPs project has allocated 290,800 Dollars to procure PPEs and also supported in COVID 19 case tracking. He hoped the grant will be used for its intended purpose.

In a remark, the Korea Ambassador to Ghana, Lim Jung–Taek asked that the vaccines be procured in a timely manner to further help Ghana achieve its target and most importantly reduce infections and deaths due to COVID 19.
