The paper suggests that government engages the security apparatus on how best to handle such protests since peaceful public agitations are constitutionally allowed in the country. It also appeals to Ghanaians not to politicise the issue but rather demand justice for the dead with all caution and in a peaceful manner.
The Daily Graphic lauds the Bank of Ghana for directing banks and specialised deposit-taking institutions to stop levying unfair and inappropriate charges on their customers. It says though long overdue, it finds it welcoming that the banks have promised to comply with the directive with immediate effect. The directive, according to the paper, will help reduce the cost of transactions to customers and boost their confidence to transact business with the institutions. The paper says financial institutions play a critical role in helping the nation deepen financial literacy and inclusion, therefore exorbitant and needless charges are a distraction to the realization of this dream.
