The Daily Graphic welcomes government decision to cede 100 percent of the printing of textbooks for basic schools to local printers .The paper believes the move is significant as it sows governments confidence in the local printing industry and also on opportunity for the sector to generate jobs. The Graphic urges the Ghana Printers and Paper Converters Association to monitor. Its members to ensure the printing of the books is fully done locally as some unpatriotic local printers may connive with their counterparts publishers to take the job outside for their selfish gains. It also called a government to take note of the appeal by printers to waive the VAT and import duties component on printing materials.
The Ghanaian Times calls on Ghanaians to cooperate with the initial scheduled mop-up exercise by the Ghana Statistical Service in the 2021 Population and Housing Census to enhance its success. According to the Government Statistician, Professor Kobina Annim, 12 out of the 16 regions of the country had 60 per cent or higher of the households expected to be enumerated covered. He said large enumeration areas such as Greater Accra, Central, Eastern and Western Regions would require additional days for mop-up. Although Professor Annim mentioned other problems which necessitates the mop-up, the Times commends the Ghana Statistical Service for the level of success chalked-up so far in the 2021 Population and Housing Census. The Paper appeals to everyone, group or organization to cooperate with the Statistical Service to help the country organize a census to guide the development of the country.
