Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, has assured students of addressing their concerns regarding the exorbitant fees being charged by private hostels.

Speaking to GBC News, the Public Relations Officer of KNUST, Dr. Norris Bekoe said although he agrees with the students that the recent hikes in hostel fees are excessive, the hostels in question do not belong to the Private Hostels Association recognized by the University.

He said notwithstanding this, the Office of the Dean of Students has identified those specific hostels and have started engaging them on the possible reduction of their fees.

To find a lasting solution to the accommodation challenges, Dr. Bekoe said discussions are ongoing with three private investors for the construction of hostels beginning next academic year.
