Huawei Ghana, through its Ambassadors and Instructors, have trained 1,500 students and certified 800 of them in HCIA-Security and HCIA-Routing and Switching.
In 2019, Huawei introduced the Huawei Student Ambassadors Programme to groom Information Communication Technology talents across the various Huawei Authorized academies in Ghana.
It also shares acquired knowledge with students and assists instructors to train more talents.
Mr Kweku Essuman Quansah, the Deputy Managing Director at Huawei Ghana, speaking at its Ambassadors and Instructors Awards event virtually, said it was to show appreciation and deliver on their commitment to the individuals, who have played a key role in ensuring that the commitment made to President Nana Akufo-Addo to train 10,000 Ghanaians in latest ICTs in the country is being fulfilled.
The awards ceremony sought to reward the outstanding 35 ambassadors, students and instructors for their effort and to motivate them to perform better.
The award for the Overall best instructor went to Mr. Julius Ludu from the University of Ghana.
The Best instructors include Mr. Daniel Ngala from the Ghana Communication Technology University, Mt Mensah Sitti of the University of Mines and Technology, Elvis Darko from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Mr Attah Opoku from the Regent University.
The Overall best ambassadors were Mr Kwesi Manful of Koforidua Technical University, Ms Abigial Abakah-Mensah of University of Mines and Technology and Mr Robert Akromod and Ghana Communication Technology University.
The Deputy Managing Director said since 2017 Huawei through strategic partnerships with 16 top Universities as authorized ICT academies in Ghana have trained over 5,000 University students and certified 2000+
He said to ensure that students were abreast with the latest technologies, which were also industry-relevant, Huawei had trained over 20 lecturers from various universities in Ghana in Data Communications and Data Storage to be officially rolled out across all partner Universities early next year.
“The 800 students certified was done within the first half of the year, which is an achievement worth celebrating as currently through the good work of our ambassadors and lecturers Ghana ranks first in the Sub Saharan region,” he said.
He commended the partner Universities for their continuous support and for choosing to partner with Huawei and entreated the ambassadors, lecturers and Heads of Departments to continue working harder on the journey they have chosen together, to cultivate more ICT talents for the development of Ghana.
Dr Fred Asamoah, the Director-General of Council for Technical and Vocational Educational Training, commended the management of Huawei for the efforts to develop the ICT talents of the Ghanaian students.
He said the Council was looking forward to a great partnership with Huawei.
Mr Asamoah encouraged the students to put into use the knowledge acquired through these training and commended the management of the partner Universities for their involvement and commitment in ensuring their students develop the ICT mentality.
