A Training Programme being organised by Management of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) for staff in batches is ongoing in Accra. The first batch which ended on Saturday 24th July, 2021 saw the Second batch of workers commencing on Sunday 25th July, 2021. The Third Batch of workers will begin on Wednesday 28th July, 2021.

The Training Programme on the Topic: “Transforming GBC from Bureaucracy to Business,” aims at re-positioning GBC from a bureaucratic set-up to a business-oriented Corporation.

The Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Professor Amin Alhassan, said GBC would continue to perform their mandate but this time with a new perspective.

He said “It is about change management and we want to get our staff to come along, you can’t change the Institution without the people. So, we are doing this extensive staff re-orientation to let them understand that the industry has changed, technology has changed; the days of analogue television and radio, where we were a monopoly is far gone. We are in a competition and we must be able to compete but we need to tune our staff into that position.”

He also noted that aside from orienting and training Staff, new equipment for the Corporation are being procured to make GBC abreast with modern trends.

Similar training sessions have already been held in Kumasi for the northern sector and Koforidua for the middle belt.

Mr. Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo, Chairman, National Media Commission (NMC), urged Staff to pursue teamwork, mutual respect and mutual recognition to enhance productivity and serve the nation better.
