President Akufo-Addo has ended his tour of the Ahafo Region with the inauguration and inspection of some completed and ongoing projects.
The projects include the Ahafo RCC Office Complex, the Norbekaw Sankore road, a dormitory block for the Hwidiem Senior High School and the Asunafo South District Assembly Office block.
The President paid courtesy calls on four Paramount Chiefs and reiterated Government’s determination to improve the road network to bring relief to the People. John Sam-Arthur reports that President Akufo Addo visited the Omanhene of Hwidiem, Nana Osuodumgya Barima Appiah-Dwa Boafo.
Interacting with the President, the issue of roads came up as the Omanhene asked the President to get the town roads and the Marbang- Goaso stretch of the Tepa-Goaso Highway way asphalted because past promises to that effect were not fulfilled.
President Akufo Addo in his response said, “after driving to the Palace I understand the plight of the People and will ensure that the roads in the area are constructed.”
The next stop of the President was the Hwidiem SHS where he inaugurated a new girls Dormitory block with accommodation for the House Mistress.
The President and his entourage then moved to the Ahafo Regional Capital Goaso. As is his custom on this tour, President Akufo Addo stopped first at the Goaso Traditional Council.
The Omanhene, Nana Kwasi Bosompra also added his voice to calls for action to improve the road network in the Ahafo area. He also condemned the interference by Chiefs and some ruling party members in the work of MMCEs saying, “that must stop’’.
President Akufo Addo repeated to the Chiefs and People at Goaso that he would ensure that the Ahafo Roads are improved.
The President also disclosed that, “government is set to launch the Agenda 111 under which 101 District hospitals and 7 Regional Hospitals will be built.”
As one of the six new Regions of Ghana, work is ongoing on the construction of the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council Office Complex.
The President toured the site to access progress or work. An Official who briefed him on the project stated that the building is 80% completed and is scheduled to be ready for use by October 2021.
President Akufo Addo later inaugurated an Office Block for the Asunafo South District Assembly.
He also later toured the site for construction of the Norbekaw-Sankore road.
