The Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, George Ansere has revealed that plans are afoot to dredge the canal at the Nzulenzu Tourist site in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.

Currently, patrons or tourists who visit the facility walk long meters to access the lake itself since the canal usually dries up during such a period.

Speaking with GBC News in Sekondi, Mr. Ansere said the situation there takes away the fun of the tour as tourists are mostly exhausted. He said funding is being sought under the Ghana Enterprise Support System to dredge the canal among others to give the site the needed appeal to increase visits there.

”The issue is about dredging under the Ghana Enterprises System, we will look at the dredging because during the raining season the boats are not able to come far, only one entry, we think it should be two entries. We have submitted the proposal.”

Nzulezu is a village entirely made up of stilts and platforms and is located near the village of Beyin, 90 kilometers west of Takoradi.
