Confusion rocks PNC Presser over suspension of Party’s General Secretary

There was tension at the People’s National Convention, PNC, Headquarters in Accra today September 1, 2021 during a News conference to announce the suspension of the Party’s General-Secretary, Janet Nabilla.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman from the side of the General-Secretary stormed the hall and refuted allegations against Madam Nabilla when the News conference was in session.

Meanwhile, the National Communication Secretary of the Party, Awudu Ishaq said the Party remained resolute regarding its decision to indefinitely expel Madam Janet Nabila as General-Secretary.

The Party had therefore given her 1 week to submit all belongings of the Party to the National Office. Hannah Abugri who was at the News conference reports that the party raised 12 different instances where the General Secretary exhibited misconduct and incompetence as far as her position is concerned.

The allegations included mismanagement of funds, refusal to submit reports, instructing some regional leaders not to attend national functions, peddling false information against the Flagbearer and some leaders of the party and disregard for her colleague Executives and many others.

The National Communications Secretary of the Party, Awudu Ishaqs reiterated that at the National Executives meeting held at the NAT Hall on Saturday, 28th August, 2021 majority of the Executives were in support of the decision, and therefore they stand on their authority as Executives to suspend Madam Janet Nabilla as the General secretary of the PNC.

To act in her stead, the Party had elected Prince Agyemang Duah, the Deputy National Youth Organizer as Interim General Secretary.

“Leadership have taken notice of several attempts by the General Secretary to fight her suspension in the media. It’s not a surprise, because we know the conduct and character of her, who has no respect for any authority. The party is taking the appropriate steps to enforce the National Executive Committee of the party. She stands suspended as it’s only the NEC or Congress that can overturn it. Notice of her suspension has been sent to the Electoral Commission, Embassies, Civil Society Organizations and the CID,” the National Communications Secretary noted.

While presenting the issues that lead to the suspension of the General Secretary, suddenly there was a riot, as many journalists’ present feared for their lives. In the midst of the pandemonium the police who were on duty managed to restore some order to the meeting.

The supposed suspended General Secretary who came to the Head Office right after the News Conference over ruled her suspension insisted that she remained the General Secretary and that she had submitted a letter notifying the leaders of their impeachment from their office.

“These criminals, we just wrote a petition to impeach Apsara and others who have not led an exemplary life. These are corrupt people. The reason why there are many is because of their corrupt nature. They can’t remove me, but they can’t destroy me. My hands are clean. He who is calling for equity must come with a clean hands,” Madam Janet Nabilla yelled out.

A journalist who was covering the event was threatened and his mobile phone was seized and carried away by the police.
