As part of strategies to end the alarming rate of Child marriages in Northern Ghana, a pro marginalised and policy influencing organization, ‘NORSAAC’, has engaged some communities in the West Mamprusi District of the North East Region to this effect.
Dubbed Promoting Adolescent Safe Space, the project is being implemented in 100 communities across 6 districts in Northern Ghana including the West Mamprusi and Mamprugu- Moagduri districts in the North East Region.
Speaking to GBC News, after a community engagement at Wulugu, the Girl’s and Female Empowerment Manager at NORSAAC, Madam Nancy Yeri revealed that by the 3rd third year of the project, 15 communities in West Mamprusi, as well as the Mamprugu Moagduri Districts, have been engaged.
The modules and strategies in the 5-year project include the Girl Led Programming, Boys Supportive Programming, Mural Painting Strategy, I- care for Adolescent Strategy and the Girls Networking strategy.
Madam Yeri added that the model gender households seek to encourage communities and households to demonstrate positive behaviour towards investing in and supporting adolescent girls.
