A massive fumigation exercise is underway at the Agbogbloshie Onion market site in Accra. The three-day exercise by Tebel Waste management is part of the ‘Let’s Make Accra Work’ campaign launched recently by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey.
The much-talked-about 80-acre land has been bare since the relocation of the onion sellers to Adjen Kotoku by the Greater Accra Regional Minister.
In a bid to get the land ready for redevelopment, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has contracted waste management company, Tebel Waste Ghana, to rid the land space of rodents, pests and other harmful animals.
More than two hundred men are involved in the three-day fumigation exercise. The group will as well clean up the place and desilt choked drains.
The Public Relations Officer of Tebel Ghana Limited, experts in disinfection and fumigation, Miss Edem Makumator, says they will work within schedule to make the land ready for the redevelopment project.
They cautioned the public not to take the COVID-19 pandemic for granted, as it still exists.
