Ghana on course to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19

Government says its vision on immunizing 20 million of its population is steadily on course. This follows the delivery of more than two million vaccines from last month.

The vaccines include Astrazeneca, Johnson and Johnson and Moderna.

The Moderna vaccines from the US Government, is the single largest consignment of Vaccines Ghana has received so far towards its vaccination drive.

Another 388,600 doses of Astrazeneca under the COVAX initiative is expected tonight.

The Ghana Health Service is yet to announce when people can go in for their inoculation.

In his last public address on the country’s fight against COVID-19, President Akufo-Addo said Ghana was expecting over 18 million doses of vaccines through COVAX and African Medicine Supply Platform as well as other international bodies.

Ghana recently acquired 3,408 vaccine freezers, fridges and cold boxes to ensure proper storage of the different vaccines that require low and ultra-low temperatures.
