3 JHS students remanded over murder of Oppong Memorial SHS final year student

The three Junior High School students allegedly involved in the murder of a final year student of the Oppong Memorial Senior High School (SHS) have again been remanded by the Bekwai District Magistrate Court Presided over by Joseph Akuoko for two weeks.

An autopsy is also to be carried on the deceased on Monday, September 20 at the Bekwai government hospital.

The three accused persons aged 17, 15 and 16 all students of Junior High Schools in Kokofu are standing trial for their alleged involvement in the death of the student.

The unfortunate incident happened on the 4th of this Month when the deceased and four other final year students sneaked to Kokofu without permission from the school.

The students met the six accused persons and a confrontation ensued which resulted in a fierce fight.

Prosecutor Chief Inspector Agyei said the deceased and his colleagues realizing their number was smaller and cannot defeat the accused persons called other students on phone to come and assist them.

He said 10 minutes later the other students arrived and the fight began again. In the cause of the fight the second accused person broke a bottle and stabbed the deceased.

The deceased fell down and started bleeding profusely and was rushed to the Ahmaddiyya Mission Hospital at Kokofu for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A report was made to the police and the accused persons were subsequently arrested at their hideouts.

The accused persons have been remanded into juvenile cells of the police to reappear on October 1 to enable the police to continue its investigations.

Meanwhile, efforts are also being made by the police to arrest the three other suspects involved.
