All 20 Assembly Members of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, EKMA have unanimously confirmed Kojo Acquah as the Municipal Chief Executive for a 2nd term.

Swearing him into office, the Western Regional Minister, Kobina Okyere Darko-Mensah said the election of MMDCEs is in accordance with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution which mandates the President to exercise such rights.

He commended the MCE for the developmental projects he had undertaken in the Municipality since his assumption of office in 2018 when EKMA was created. He therefore urged the MCE to continue his good work of developing the Municipality. For his part, Mr. Acquah after his confirmation extended his gratitude to God for making it possible to be elected once again to serve the Assembly in alignment with the government’s agenda for national progress.

He reiterated his commitment to continuously discharge his mandate in an impartial and objective manner to advance development of the Municipality. The MP for Kwesiminstim, Dr Prince Hamid Armah tasked the people to work hand in hand with the MCE to enable him to continue the good work he embarked upon over the past years. He urged them to cultivate the act of dedication and commitment as portrayed by the MCE to ensure progress of the Municipality. Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal District is one of the 14 districts in the Western Region.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Sekondi -Takoradi Metropolitan area, until it split on 29 February 2008.
