More than 100 first and second year students of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Ashanti Region completely lost their trunks, books, clothing, shoes, mattresses, and other personal effects to a ravaging fire that swept through a dormitory in the school on Friday evening. There were no injuries as the students were attending mass when the incident happened.

A combined team of personnel from the Bibiani and Nyinahin Fire stations responded to the emergency but could not salvage anything due to the long distance they had to travel. Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, It is alleged that some Form 3 students of the School set the dormitory ablaze after completing the WASSCE for not being allowed by the school authorities to engage in Exammination malpractice . The situation has left more than 100 students stranded with no place to sleep and no attire to wear.
