The Ghana Statistical Service is expected to release the final report of the 2021 Population and Housing Census in November 2021. The service is in the final stages of quality assurance which will lead to a post enumeration survey.
Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Anim, said this, when he officially presented the preliminary report of the census to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
The Provisional figure from the 2021 Population and Housing Census puts Ghana’s population at 30.8 million. This means the population has grown almost fivefold since the first post-independence census conducted in 1960.
Ghana’s population is growing, but at a declining rate compared with previous censuses.
The Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Anim, said the Ghana Statistical Service is ready to assist policy makers to take full advantage of the more than 2 million indicators in the census data.
He said once the final report is released, “the Statistical Service will conduct a survey on the integrity of public services”.
“Once we are done with the census which always represents census surveys your excellency, I must inform you that before the end of the year, there will one important survey which is going to look at the integrity of public services……………and Ghana Statistical Service looks forward to industrialise”.
President Akufo-Addo assured the Statistical Service of using the data in the report for future planning.
The delegation to the Jubilee House included, Chairperson of the Statistical Service, Board, Dr. Grace Bediako, Head of Recruitment and Training of the just ended Census, Mrs. Abena Osei Akoto and the Head of the Census Secretariat, Emmanuel George Osei.
