Federation of Muslim Councils Ghana commend initiators of Ghanaian Family Values Bill

The Federation of Muslim Councils, Ghana (FMC) has commended the initiators of the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021 currently before the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.

In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the Federation, Hajj Muhammad Amir Kpakpo Addo, it congratulated CSOs who supported it and the Speaker of Parliament for his unflinching support for the Bill.

The Federation is hopeful that the Committee will carry out a comprehensive and diligent review of the views and suggestions submitted by interest groups and Ghanaians and give the nation an effective and efficient law that will enhance proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values. 

Federation of Muslim Councils, Ghana, is therefore pleased with the assurances by the Speaker to not only expedite the passage of the Bill, but conduct the sitting and voting on the Bill publicly.

It said these assurances repose hope in the FMC that the right thing would be done.

The statement said the Speaker and Members of Parliament must remain resolute to get the Bill passed to uphold the cultural, religious, and moral rights bequeathed by the forefathers and save Ghana from disaster.
