Ghana’s premier golf course Achimota Golf Course will host this year’s edition of the Accra Open Golf Championship. The competition which is organised by Club Nineteen under the auspices of Ghana Golf Association, GGA under the theme “Road To Recovery” is expected to lead the digital inclusion and the dynamism as the world ease into normalcy after the Covid-19 global pandemic.
The annual event which went into hibernation due the COVID-19 is expected to attract over 120 amateur and professional golfers competing for the laurels at stake.
Dubbed “Road to Recovery” will also involve contests in four amateur categories. The categories include the Men Group A for players with handicaps 12 and below; the Men Support Group for players with handicaps between 13 and 18; the Ladies, for players with 20 and below and the Ladies Support Group for players with handicaps between 21 and 30.
Addressing the launch, the Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Kwesi Amoafo-Yeboah said the organisers had pulled all the stops to ensure the successful return of the tournament after a close to five-year lull.
A member of the Organising Committee of the tournament, René Gameli Kwame said the organisers were expecting about 70 professional golfers from across the African continent to participate in the contest.
With the official launch already done to swing preparations into full gear, members are encouraged to register by picking their participation form for the five(5) day event which runs from Wednesday 17th- Sunday 21st November 2021. A crap open 2021 is golfing platform which allows golfers to show their golfing prowess for laurels.
An amount of GH₵ 100,000 prize for has been earmarked as the prize money 70 professional golfers expected to slug it out on the green turf.
