A former Pathologist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital who performed the Post-Mortem on the body of the late NPP Upper East Regional Chairman Adams Mahama has attributed the death to extensive acid burns. Dr. Lawrence Adusei testified as the ninth Prosecution Witness at the Accra High Court when he presented the post mortem on the late NPP Chairman.
In his evidence in Chief led by Chief State Attorney Marina Appiah Opare in the case in which Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangde are standing trial for murder said, in May 2015, he was informed that there is a case from Bolgatanga in which his services were needed. According to him, he was later on picked from his office to the military base in Accra and together with some investigators taken by the military helicopter to Bolgatanga where he was conducted to a post mortem on the deceased.
The accused persons Afoko and Asabke Alangde have both pleaded not guilty to the charges and are being held in lawful custody. Meanwhile, Defence Lawyers have described as deceptive the Post-Mortem conducted by the Pathologist, Dr. Lawrence Adusei. Under cross-examination, Lawyer Andrew Kudzo Vortia said, the outcome of the Pathologist examination could have been different if conducted by another Pathologist.
Lawyer Vortia said that the opinion of the Pathologist that the cause of death was due to extensive acid burns, an unnatural cause, could be deceptive, because another Pathologist could have attributed the cause of death to another opinion not related to his.
