FDA destroys more than GH₵75,000 worth of unwholesome goods in Upper East

The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, in the Upper East Region has destroyed unwholesome goods valued at GH₵75,460

The goods which were confiscated by the Authority after market surveillance throughout the region included food products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, herbal medicines, food supplements and household chemicals.

The Food and Drugs Authority during a routine market surveillance across the Upper East Region confiscated the unwholesome products from provision shops, pharmacies, warehouses, herbal clinics, cosmetics shops and the open market.

Speaking to GBC News, the Upper East Regional Head of the FDA, Sebastian Mawuli Hotor, said the essence of the exercise is to sensitize people to shop from the right sources.

Mr. Hotor advised the public to be cautious about unwholesome food items and products on the market during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
