Northern Regional Road Safety Authority begins ”Stay Alive” campaign

As part of efforts to ensure safety and protect lives on the roads, the Northern Regional Road Safety Authority has launched its regional road safety campaign dubbed ‘Stay Alive’ at the forecourt of the State Transport Corporation, STC Tamale.

 It is intended to help to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries by 15%, as well as change drivers’ attitude toward over speeding, wrongful overtaking, driving tired and jumping red lights.

The Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Yoosa Bonga, said indiscipline is a major contributory factor to crashes on roads, and there is the need to change attitudes to solve road accidents. 

”Everyone needs to embrace the campaign, drivers, particularly commercial drivers, should be cautious on the road”.

The Regional Director of the National Road Safety Authority for the Northern and Savannah Regions, Mohammed Abdul-Samad, said they are stepping up public education and law enforcement for the safety of all road users.
