Sustain the peace – Eastern Regional Minister Seth Acheampong

The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, in conjunction with GBC Sunrise FM with support from the Regional Security Council, has organized the 14th edition of the Nine Lessons and Carols in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, to usher in the Christmas festivities.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong speaking at the function said his appointment to the highest office in the region was confronted with environmental challenges such as illegal mining, adding that work is ongoing to curb the menace.

Mr. Acheampong noted that the essence of the occasion is to spread joy to the world and live in harmony, and urged everyone to sustain the peace of the country.

Mr. Acheampong encouraged everyone to take advantage of the vaccination month to get vaccinated, and observe the Covid-19 precautionary measures during the festivities.

He commended the Security Agencies and all other departments especially the Ghana Health Service for their efforts throughout the year.

Head Pastor of the Calvary Congregation of the Presbyterian Church at Nsukwao, Rev. Daniel Owusu Ansah, in a sermon on the theme “Christmas is All about Jesus”, said Christmas is about showing love to one another as Christ did.

He appealed to all to live Christ-centered life, adding, that would bring about the love society needs to build.

Apart from the Eastern Regional Minister Seth Acheampong who read the ninth lesson, other dignitaries who took turns to read the lessons were the Regional Deputy Police Commander, DCOP Anderson Fosu Akaa, Regional Director of GBC Sunrise FM, Albert Nii Adjei Klu.

New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Apau-Gyasi, and Kontihene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Baffour Nyantakyi Tutu Boateng.
