Ghana Police has deployed more armed men in uniform to Parliament House to maintain law and order as group threatened to storm the House over E-Levy passage.
The police are visible particularly, at the ceremonial gate, opposite the Accra International Conference Centre near the State House.
The display of more men at the inner perimeters of the main gate is a move to prevent any forceful entry by the group members.
The Group known as JUSTICE FOR GHANA “AGAINST E-LEVY” this morning gave an indication to picket at infront of Parliament House to demonstrate their dislike for the controversial Electronic Transaction Bill, 2021 also called Momo Tax.
The Group in a WhatsApp notice asked interested Ghanaians or members to meet at the front of Parliament House at 9 am prompt today, Tuesday, 25th January, 2022 in either Red or Black attire.
According to them “all those who dislike the introduction of the E-LEVY should come and join us”.
Meanwhile, MPs have started arriving from the long recess to commence the first sitting of the first meeting of the Second session of the 8th Parliament of the fourth Republic and, Speaker Alban Bagbin is expected to make formal communication on the floor before, commencement of public business as captured on the Order Paper for today.
