A Road Safety Expert, Dr. Godfred Akyea Darkwa has identified human error as the major cause of road accidents in the country. He made the point following the death of 17 passengers over the weekend on the Nkawkaw-Oframase road and Asuboi, on the Accra Kumasi Road. Dr Akyea Darkwa blamed the negligence of drivers rather than bad roads.
Speaking on GBC’s Uniiq Breakfast Drive on measures to curb road crashes, Director of Planning and Programmes at the National Road Safety Authority, David Adonteng, observed that adherence to road safety regulations by motorists remains a challenge. Mr. Adonteng disclosed that the Road Safety Authority is in talks with the Police Service to enforce road safety laws.
Meanwhile, Former President John Mahama in a Facebook post described the Asuboi weekend accident as ”a sad waste of young lives ”.
