After a long wait, the expected has finally happened. The People of the Akpini State of Kpando Municipality in the Volta region graced the occasion with the enstoolment of the long-awaited Paramount Chief.

Kpando Municipality, in the Volta Region, was thrown into a state of joy when a new Paramount Chief was outdoored at the traditional area on Sunday 6th March 2022.

Okpekpewuokpe Torgbuiga Dagadu IX, the new Paramount Chief, 36, succeeded Okpekpewuokpe Dagadu VIII, who was known in private life as Captain Komla Dra Amedewonu (rtd).

The enstoolment of the Chief featured on the ”Keep an Eye” Segment of the GTV Breakfast Show on March 21, 2022.

Darroll Allan Tagoe was in Kpando, where he spoke with the Custodian of the Akpini history, Togbe Dake who said that the Akpini people are a segment of the Ewe people that can be traced from Ghana, Togo and Benin and they are a group with many dialects but their major one is the Akpene Ewe. They descended from three major Ancestors namely: Togbe Asio, Togbe Adjei and Togbe Eko.

Some of the people in the town expressed joy and looked visibly elated with the installation of a new Chief that brings to rest years of a protracted dispute.

This is a time of ”peace, unity, joy,”, as some of the youth in the town shared their experience.
