A Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency in the Volta Region has welcomed the reopening of land and sea borders as announced by President Akufo-Addo.
“We can breathe again as all citizens in the land of our birth,” Dzifa Gomshie, the Ketu South MP noted.
Madam Gomshie on several occasions especially on the floor of Parliament called on the President to open the land borders in line with COVID-19 protocols to alleviate the plight of her constituents noted that “two years of anguish, frustration, disillusionment and hardship has finally ended”.
In interview with gbcghanaonline the MP maintained that, “I have always had my doubts about the real reasons for the closure of the border but that doesn’t matter now. My resilient people will bounce back.”
She used the opportunity to thank the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Adzongaga Ameny Fiti for his encouragement and support throughout the dark days.
She also thanked, “all those who stood with us during the two years we were locked down and most especially President John Dramani Mahama who brought the vulnerable food during the dark days”.
The MP again extended gratitude to hardworking and courageous people of Ketu South and all the people of the land border Communities for their patience and tolerance.
