Popular Actor in the Ghana movie industry, Oscar Provencal has advised Parliament to build consensus and work behind the scenes when dealing with controversial issues in the country.
This comes after the Captain of the Blackstars, Dede Ayew was said to have ignored an invitation from Parliament to review the Black Stars 2022 Africa Cup of Nations painful exit in Cameroon.
According to him, the country needs to put more emphasis on information management.
“We are in a State now where we need to build consensus, work behind the scenes. These are things that Parliament does and the management of information is critical. We have seen that with the roll-out of the E- Levy. The management of information is critical”.
Speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show on April 6, 2022 Mr. Provencal declared his dislike over how Ghanaians vilify people who serve the country at a professional level.
“Many of the players don’t like to play for Ghana because they get roasted by commentary. They are vilified left, right, centre over the least mistake. We are human beings. The way we treat our fellow Ghanaians, who would want to come and play for us. Few Ghanaians will die for the country because of the press”.
He revealed that the country was losing so much when it comes to foreign investment because of the continuous unhealthy criticisms by Ghanaians.
“When they did the year of return, I had a meeting with Boris Cudjoe, the Actor. His greatest concern is to bring investors into Ghana for them to get vilified. He said the bloggers were a problem and the way the Ghanaian press handle social media. That was his concern. He would not risk his reputation to bring in big time investors, millions into the country when they can just get vilified within seconds”.
In his final comments, he called for a radical change among Ghanaians to boast patriotism in and outside the country.
“We need radical change, there has to be a radical change. If we do a survey on how many people will die for the country, I will put a question mark on it”.
