Former Aide to John Mahama criticizes Dr. Bawumia’s take on economy

Aide to Former President John Mahama, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s lecture on the economy as a litany of excuses that should be dismissed.
He noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led administration has mismanaged the economy and has left the country with the worst economic situation in the fourth republic.
Speaking on News and Current Affairs Programme, ‘Behind the News’, Mr Kwakye Fosu’s noted Covid-19 and the Ukraine-Russian war has nothing to do with the economic hardship confronting the country.

Mr  Kwakye Ofosu also noted that the government’s debt stock has increased over the years compared to what was left when the NPP took power.

He questioned Dr Bawumia’s explanation that the government used most of the money borrowed for projects across the country.

 

 

Meanwhile, the former Government Spokesperson on Finance and former MP for Bantama, Daniel Okyem Aboagye disagreed that the government has mismanaged the economy.

He noted that several ongoing projects attest to the fact that the government has used money borrowed judiciously.

He asked that the government should be given the needed credit for projects.
