The Senior National female team, the Black Queens would hold five training sessions ahead of Saturday’s African Women’s Cup (AWCON) 2018 tournament, in a bid to sharpen their goal scoring abilities, according to head coach Bashir Hayford.
Coach Hayford, made this known when the Black Queens of Ghana beat their South African counterparts, the Bayana Bayana by 1:0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in an international friendly to wrap up their preparations, for the 11th biennial tournament, which starts from Saturday 11th November to 1st December, 2018 at Accra and Cape Coast.
“We would have five training sessions to sharpen our attack before the commencement of the tournament, we have noticed some mistakes during our training tour.”
“Though we cannot have long range shots like the males do, it is important that we do our best to work on our goal scoring abilities and I know we would play a beautiful football and an improved game in the competition,” he said.
The Black Queens, who played three friendly games against Zambia, Kenya and South Africa scored four goals and conceded four and would be looking to improve on that before they start their campaign on Saturday against Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium.
