A Land Surveyor, Herbert Djaba is calling for the collection of data on Ghana’s current topography to aid planning and in the long run address the age-old perennial flooding. According to Mr. Djaba, the current topography that exists is outdated and does not reflect the fast changes occurring daily in the capital.
Mr. Herbet Djaba was part of a three-member panel on GBC Current Affairs Program, Focus, which discussed the perennial flooding and associated issues. Mr. Djaba was optimistic that with the right education and leadership flooding will become a thing of the past.
A Principle Seismologist and Geohazards Expert with the Ghana Geological Survey, Savior Alomatu Morkley urged all agencies and departments to work together in finding a lasting solution to flooding.
Head of Public Affairs at the AMA, Gilbert Ankrah admitted that the Assembly is at the centre of ending flooding in Accra, and announced that ”it is working hard at demolishing all structures in water ways”, and urged the public to take responsibility for their own actions.
