President Akufo-Addo has appointed former MP for Ledzokuku, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).Dr. Okoe Boye replaces the current CEO of the Authority, Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby.

The appointment was communicated in a letter dated April 21, 2022, and he assumes office on May 3, 2022.

Dr. Okoe Boye lost the Ledzokuku seat in the 2020 Elections after serving one term. It was reported that prior to the 2020 elections, President Akufo-Addo insisted that he will not reappoint Members of Parliament who failed to retain their seats.

It was therefore not surprising to many when Dr. Okoe Boye’s name was excluded from the list of Ministerial Appointees after the 2020 polls, although he served as a Deputy Minister for Health prior to the elections.

Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has served in various capacities including, Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
