The Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane has made a donation to the Kongo Senior High School that was hit by rainstorm destroying some buildings and displacing the students.

The GHC15,000 is to help the school fix the roof, broken doors and restore electricity to the school.

GBC News visited the school after the rainstorm and reported that a rather urgent intervention was needed

“I have seen some pictures of the destruction that the rainstorm did to the school. There is very serious damage. When I spoke with the Headmistress, she sounded very disturbed and called for assistance. I have therefore decided to make a donation of GHC15, 000 from my share of the MP’s Common Fund as a relief to the school” Dr. Nawaane stated.

The Lawmaker said he is “committed to doing everything possible within my power to ensure that education in my Constituency receive a major boost to enable children to become competent professionals in the future”.

Confirming the donation, Headmistress of the school Madam Gifty Ayamba said she received a text message from the MP about the support he is giving them.

She expressed delight saying that, “the MP’s quick response to my appeal is heartwarming.

He has given us GHC15, 000 and I will pick it up from the District Assembly next week. This has come to put some energy in me again, because my children will have a place to lay their heads and to study”, she noted.

The Kongo Township had experienced a rainstorm which affected the school destroying several properties.

The roof of the School’s Store room was ripped off thereby soaking their food items and displacing a number of items. Also their Computer Lab,  library and other buildings were severely affected.
