The GBC Ladies Association has organized this year’s Mother’s Day Special at the Broadcasting House in Accra. It was to appreciate the efforts of Mother’s towards the socio-economic development of the country, with a special dedication to its Past resident, Gertrude Opare-Addo who is deceased. The theme for this year is “My Mother My Inspiration”.

Founder and Executive Director of Henry Djaba Memorial foundation, Otiko Afisa Djaba encouraged women to live a happy life, while they execute their duties. She tasked them to ”train their children to become responsible citizens in society”.

“Don’t allow any child to make you miserable. Raise your children to learn how to be responsible for you and for themselves. Be supportive and let them also support you. When you are sick, let them make you a cup of coffee and take you to the hospital. During the holidays, let them help you with the house chores. Take time off to do your hair. You must enjoy life. You are supposed to be happy”, she opined.

President of the GBC Ladies Association, Gloria Laryea highlighted some important roles mothers play in society. She encouraged women in the media to patronize the GBC College to help sharpen their skills in journalism.

“Our purpose here today is to honour women. Our mothers who have been our source of inspiration, have sacrificed and given their enormous contributions towards our achievement and success in life. In some situations, while fathers are absent, some mothers play a dual role of a father and mother to raise their children and run their homes. I would like to encourage Mothers and all present and numerous viewers to patronize our GBC Broadcasting College where you can acquire some training to become the best in news reading, scriptwriting and program presenting”
