Five persons have been arrested by the Bawku Divisional Police Command in the Upper East Region in connection with renewed ethnic disturbances that claimed the lives of four persons.
Even though the Police are yet to unravel the cause of the disturbances, there were reports of sporadic gunshots in Bawku on Monday, May 9.
However, on Tuesday, May 10, four persons were shot dead.
Speaking to the media in Bawku, the District Police Commander, Superintendent Simon Peter Akabati, said calm has been restored to the area.
He said the bodies of the deceased have been released to their families for burial.
