Today, May 25th marks another year to commemorate Africa Union Day. The African Union Commission celebrates “Africa Day” to acknowledge its successes and to encourage the progress that Africa has made under a specific theme.
This is done while reflecting upon the common challenges that the Continent faces in a global environment.
The theme for this year’s AU celebration is “Strengthening Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on the African Continent”.
This involves “Strengthening Agro-Food Systems, Health and Social Protection Systems for the Acceleration of Human, Social and Economic Capital Development”.
The day is a statutory public holiday in several countries such as The Gambia, Mali, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
