Lovemak Ventures Supports Women’s Football in Volta Region

GroomDatGirl, a girl-empowerment group with support from Lovemak Ventures, a distributor of fast-moving consumer goods in the Volta Region, has donated sanitary pads to the Women’s Division One League teams participating in the ongoing Volta Regional Women’s Football League.
The donation was made to the Secretariat of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) in Ho for onward distribution to the teams to support the advancement of women’s football in the region.

The gesture which is in commemoration of the Global Menstrual Hygiene Day which fell on the 25th of May 2022 is expected to motivate the female footballers and boost their confidence on the field at all times.

The General Manager of Lovemak Ventures, Mawuli Asigbee Addae said the company is glad to be associated with the development of women’s football in the Region.
“Lovemak Ventures is glad to support women’s football, We believe that these products will go a long way to support our women footballers and to develop the game in the region. I thank you all very much” Mr. Asigbee said.
The VRFA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah thanked Lovemak Ventures for their kind gesture in supporting the development of football in the region.

“We are excited about this, it’s something that is happening for the first time as far as the development of football in our region is concerned,” Mr. Agbogah said.
“I must use this opportunity to thank GroomDatGirl, I understand they are the people who championed this. On behalf of the Executive Council and the entire football family in the Volta region, I want to express our gratitude for this amazing work you have done for us,” he added.
The head of the Regional FA bemoaned how women footballers are held back during their periods but was optimistic, that the support would boost their confidence in achieving their dreams to play football.
“We are aware that some girls are not participating in the game of football because they feel intimidated during their menstrual period. We all know naturally menstruation is a normal thing, but some of them become shy when playing football during their periods, using the pad will definitely make them feel much more confident and that will make a young girl who is a footballer become The Adjoa Bayor of the future” He said.
“ I thank the media group who are also supporting this program. Once this is the beginning a lot more will come and our arms are wide open to receive such a thing that will motivate our female footballers in the region” Mr. Agbogah said.
The Team Lead of GroomDatGirl, Tilda Acorlor said supporting women footballers will develop their skills to become better players for the region.
“We at GroomDatGirl realized that women footballers are always left behind and sometimes totally forgotten when it comes to celebrations like the World Menstrual Hygiene Day and other celebrations involving women,” Miss Acorlor said
“This time around GroomDatGirl is focusing on them, we want to appreciate their skills and show them love, by helping to get this sanitary product from Lovemak Ventures, we are super excited for their support.”
“We are doing this to enhance and support the skills of our girls who play football in the region, so that someday nothing will hinder them from becoming good players for our region, Miss Acorlor added.
Madam Joyce Kugblenu of Women Now Ghana, also supported the female footballers with some pieces of reusable pads.
Members of the Volta Chapter of GJA and Women Now Ghana came to support the presentation.
