The National Executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has paid a working visit to the Wisconsin International University College, Ghana.
The National Executive, led by the President of GJA, Mr. Albert Dwumfour, used the occasion to tour the ultra-modern facilities and equipment of the University.
Some of the facilities the executives, accompanied by some journalists, toured included the ultra-modern skills labs, the ICT wing, and the six-hundred-capacity library.
Others are the University‘s online radio and multimedia studio, the music department, and the School of Communication Studies.
Speaking to the media after the visit, the founder and Chancellor of the first accredited private university in Ghana, Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, announced a special scholarship package for members of the GJA.
He stressed the need for journalists to upgrade themselves to broaden their scope of knowledge.
For his part, the GJA President applauded management and staff for the excellent job done to develop the human resources of the country.
He also thanked the University’s Founder and Chancellor, Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, for agreeing to provide the association with a scholarship package.
“Dr. Chancellor, the GJA is indeed grateful to you and your management for this kind gesture. Like Oliver Twist, I wish to appeal to your good self and your management team to give the association a quota during admission to enable a majority of members from the inky fraternity to sharpen their skills.
This, I believe, will go a long way to enhance the performance of journalists in their line of news gathering, writing, and dissemination,” he reiterated.
