Established in March 2016, more than 50 students have successfully been awarded with scholarship this year to study various programmes at the Regentropfen College of Applied Sciences at Namoo in the Upper East Region.
At a ceremony to execute this novelty the awardees were encouraged to stay up the academic ladder to justify the institution’s investment.
The 58 awardees, comprise of students offering diploma and degree programmes in Computer Science, Basic Education, Agriculture for Social Change, Accounting and Business Administration.
Five students had one hundred percent offer while others had 50 percent to 70 percent offers for the whole period of their study.
Speaking to GBC News, the Acting Registrar of the School, Dr. Isaac Azure said the scholarship is instituted to cushion students to meet their financial obligations.
“The inspiration behind it actually comes from the vision and mission of the president of the college who having gone through difficulty at the early stage of his life. His vision is to enable many people as possible have access to tertiary education” Dr. Isaac explained.
Some beneficiary students who spoke to the media said the scholarships offered them are going to be a relief to their families.
“I’m very impressed with the scholarship. Actually when I was thinking like I will get fifty or seventy percent but at the end I had one hundred percent and I’m very grateful.” Elizabeth Atanga expressed delight.
Affiliated to the University for Development Studies Tamale campus, ReCas is set to train a new generation of scientific researchers, engineers and entrepreneurial leaders who combine analytical and critical thinking with care for others and the courage to transform the West Africa Sub-region.
The next scholarship exams is expected to be conducted in the first week of August 2022.
